I’m Emily, the photographer behind Em J Photos.
I live in the beautiful market town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire, with my husband, our two boys, Finn and Otis, and Harvey, our dog, who is every bit a part of the family.
For over ten years, I’ve had the privilege of documenting love, family, and the seasons in between. From intimate countryside weddings to family homes filled with little feet, and brands with stories worth telling, my work has taken me across the UK and beyond.
I’m drawn to honest moments over perfect ones. The quiet glance across a room. The way your child instinctively reaches for your hand. The laughter that wasn’t planned. These are the photographs that stay with us.
My approach is calm, thoughtful and unobtrusive. I want you to feel completely at ease, allowing space for genuine connection while I quietly document your story as it unfolds.
The images we create together are intended to feel timeless natural photographs that hold not only how everything looked, but how it felt.

My approach to photography is much like my personality relaxed, easy-going and completely centred around making you feel comfortable.
I know that being in front of the camera doesn’t come naturally to most people, and that’s absolutely okay. My job is to take that pressure away. I’ll chat with you throughout your session, gently guide you when you need it, and before long, you’ll forget the camera is even there.
The most beautiful photographs aren’t perfectly posed they’re the genuine moments. The laughter, the quiet glances, the cuddles, and the connection between the people you love most. Those are the memories that last a lifetime, and those are the moments I love to capture.
